Dumbo Feather Conversation Series // Chid Liberty

Fb-Button

Recently I was lucky enough to be invited into the Dumbo Feather Magazine family as their event photographer. If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading the nourishing goodness that is Dumbo Feather, pick up a copy as soon as possible. Or better yet, subscribe for a year (4 issues) for only $35.

Dumbo Feather, Conversations with Extraordinary People is just that – each issue introduces and picks the brains of 5 diverse and inspiring people. Choreographers, philosophers, painters, activists… passionate people whose dreams and determination are having a direct and powerful impact on their world and those around them. Each interview reads like a cosy chat by the fire with a glass of red wine – which is also how I recommend devouring each issue.

Their latest event was a delightful evening with Chid Liberty, a fair trade activist, entrepreneur and all round amazing person. Held at the White House (Dumbo Feather’s base) in St Kilda and hosted by Small Giants founder Danny Almagor, the night was warm, inviting and fascinating. With luscious food and drinks, floral design by Poppy from Pop & Scott and a room filled with enthusiastic minds, the night was a complete success. Chid had us all entranced with the stories of his journey so far (I I had to remind myself to actually take the pictures), and was so very grateful to his hosts for inviting him to share his vision.

Read the article on Chid and his company Liberty & Justice here.
Congratulations to Tamasein, Jo and the whole team at Dumbo Feather.

BEK + LEE // Inglewood Estate Wedding // 2013

Fb-Button

Bek + Lee are blissfully, unabashedly and uncontrollably in love. Married at the charming and rustic Inglewood Estate in Kangaroo Ground, Victoria, these two young lovers would make anyone’s heart melt.

Bek looked incredible in her divine Karen Willis Holmes dress, and Lee’s Top Shop vintage-inspired suit was so very dapper. As a present to their guests, the couple had  their own newspaper designed, celebrating the story of their love! Such a clever touch. The rest of the details were delicate and sweet; the whole celebration looked like a soft pastel dream.

The couple made the unusual decision not to have a reception, for the sweetest of all reasons – all they wanted to do once they were married was to have a quiet dinner, just the two of them. *sigh*.

I was so lucky to have the chance to meet such lovely people, and capture such a pure and all-encompassing love. Thank you Bek + Lee x x x

Big love to John Possemato for his assistance… and rally driving.    …..                                           ……………………………………………………………….

admin Hi Kate,
I’ve only shot the one wedding at Inglewood, and the couple only had their ceremony there, so I can’t really help unfortunately… all I can tell you is that it photographed beautifully.
Good luck with your planning!

Kate Hi there, firstly your photos look absolutely amazing and you have given me so much inspiration!! My partner and I are also looking at booking at Inglewood for our ceremony and reception at the end of this year. I was just wondering if you had any further info on Inglewood (aside from the red carpet issue) how were they to deal with and most importantly how was the food at the reception? Thanks, Kate.

Rebekah Thankyou so much Lucy.. Just revisiting this post, and the photos still take my breath away. Thank you for capturing our day so beautifully.

Chelsea- We had the same problem with Inglewood Estate.. I wouldn’t recommend them because they told us we could decorate however we wanted (roll up the red carpet, remove the tropical floral arrangements in the back) however, only days before, they insisted we couldn’t change anything. We ended up covering the whole floor with Hessian material.. probably against their wishes. Good luck dealing with them!!

Kate@MagnoliaRouge What a gorgeous wedding and photos… her dress is stunning!!

admin Hi Chelsea, I think they covered it with a long roll of burlap. I’ll ask Bek for you and let you know.

Chelsea Love your work! My partner and I have just started looking at venues and the works for our wedding in late 2014. Not only do we love your work but we have also been looking at Inglewood for our wedding. Just wondering if you know what the couple used to cover the red carpet? Because that’s the main thing putting us off the venue!

I’m thrilled to present the second offering from She Takes Pictures He Makes Films – my new collaboration with Filmmaker Alastair Innes. The picturesque wedding of Alice + Hamish took place in the coastal town of Warrnambool, Victoria. The setting was exquisite, the dance floor was pumping and the bride was possibly the most bubbly person I have ever met.

Thank you so much Alice + Ham! We had an awesome weekend with you guys, and loved capturing a celebration filled with so many laughs and crazy dance moves. x

Alice & Hamish Luce & Al,

Wow what an amazing chronicle of our special day! You managed to seamlessly capture and bottle the mood and raw emotion all in 8 minutes, always present but never obtrusive. You have the rare ability to identify fleeting moments and those idiosyncrasies that define who we are.

You intricately navigated your way through the day, capturing the colour and theatrics backed by an impeccable soundtrack that only enhance the visuals.

It was a true privilege to be part of the creative genius that is ‘She Takes Pictures He Makes Films’. You are both incredibly talented. Thank you.

Alice and Hamish x
